I thought this was a ridiculous statement until I thought about it more and realized baseball is an old sport; there’s also the fact that we aren’t really that far removed from a time where a few countries owned a lot of other countries (an age of empires, if you will).

Quick check reveals Cubs last won the World Series in 1908, and Ottoman Empire didn't end until 1922-1923.
